Museum Staff
Victoria Pelky is a curator and museum professional with a background in Canadian history, culture, and the arts. Originally from Blind River, Ontario, she holds a Bachelor of Arts Honours in History and French and a Master’s degree in Canadian Studies from Carleton University.
Victoria has professional experience working in museums and art galleries, where she has developed experience in collections, research, exhibitions, and public engagement. Her academic and professional background has fostered a particular interest in Canadian history and the stories preserved within museum and archival collections.
As Curator at Clarence-Rockland Museum, Victoria is responsible for the care, research, and interpretation of the collection. She is passionate about uncovering the stories held within collections and making them accessible and meaningful to the communities they represent.
Francine Saumur has nearly a decade of professional experience in managing material and digital collections, with a specialization in printed works on paper. She has ancestral roots in the village of Clarence Creek. Her grandparents, Athanase and Anita Lavictoire, had the family farm on Bouvier Road, formerly Concession 7.
Francine has lived in the villages of Clarence Creek and Saint Pascal-Baylon and now resides in Rockland. She is trained in information management and is interested in the preservation, archiving, conservation, and display of the region’s cultural and lived heritage. Francine is excited to combine both her expertise and her cultural heritage to successfully carry out this important project.
