READING BUDDIES IN THE LIBRARY
Program suitable for kids from grade 1 through grade 6.
Are you worried about your child’s reading level? Is it a struggle to get them to read to you? If so, let us match them with a Reading Buddy at the Library. Studies show that reading with a buddy not only builds confident readers it also builds great self-esteem. By reading out loud children get to practice not only reading but also fluency in reading and benefit from reading to an audience in an authentic manner.
The Library has recruited a wonderful team of teen volunteers, in both English and French, that are ready to be matched with your child and become their reading buddy.
Sessions last 4 weeks and can start as soon as we find a buddy for your child. Each session lasts 45 minutes and the buddies meet every week on the same day and time at the Rockland branch.
Sessions will be scheduled within these days and times: Monday to Thursday 4 PM to 8 PM and Saturdays from 10 AM to 1 PM.
To request a match, please contact Pamela Eastwood at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 613-446-5680 ext 0.
Please note that matching is not guaranteed. We take requests and work with our volunteers to secure a match.
