RockCon – Play boardgames all day

The Clarence-Rockland Public Library is holding its 2nd gaming convention called RockCon on Saturday, September 17th. We had hoped to make this a yearly event but with the pandemic, we had to unfortunately skip a year, but we are back – better than ever!

In February of 2020, the Clarence-Rockland Boardgamers Network and the Library hosted over 100 people from the community. The event was a huge success and got noticed by gaming communities in Ottawa.

Throughout the day there will be pre-selected games available on the tables or you can “rent” a game, at no cost, from our vast array of choices. Participants will be given tickets as they arrive, and winners of games may receive additional tickets for prize draws that will happen all day and evening long.

RockCon is brought to you in collaboration with the Clarence-Rockland Boardgamers Network which provides us with boardgame experts to help you learn and play new games. The Library would like to thank them for making this event a one-of-a-kind boardgame convection in Rockland.

Here is how the day will unfold:

12 PM to 6 PM

Open gaming at the Rockland branch of the CRPL. We will have many games for families so bring your kids of all ages. You can bring a game you like and want to share with others or there will be games available for you to play. Experts will be around to help you learn or answer any questions you may have.

3 PM to 6 PM

The CoLab will be open to teens 12 to 17 to participate in games geared towards them. This will be an inviting space for teens to play familiar boardgames or to learn how to play a new game with friends old and new.

5 PM to 6 PM

Pizza dinner ($$) for those who wish to participate. Drinks and snacks will be made available as well.

6 PM to 12 AM

This portion of the day is dedicated to adults 19+. There will be a cash bar as well as a canteen available for the players to enjoy while gaming the night away! We anticipate this part of RockCon to be very popular so gather some friends or come make some new ones – and play some really fun boardgames.
